Functions as the senior public relations representative of the agency on assigned client accounts.  Responsible for long-term strategic direction.  Has bottom-line accountability for assigned accounts. He/she bears final responsibility for the agency’s strategic public relations recommendations and performance and is responsible for its public relations product and measurable success metrics. Responsible for fostering integration of public relations among team members across a broad range of communication specialties, in order to ensure effective integrated marketing programs.  Maintains senior level client relationships and ensures efficient internal management of resources.  Supervises, guides and mentors several Account Supervisors/Account Executives.

Essential Functions:

Maintains a keen awareness and understanding of the clients’ business, products and services, marketing and public relations policies, goals, competition and potential problems or areas of concern.
Keeps abreast of changes, trends and issues related to clients’ industries; keeps apprised of all relevant client and market developments.
Maintains senior level client contact.
Oversees all new public relations plans and programs to provide strategic direction.
Directs activities of Public Relations Account Supervisors/Account Executives/Assistant Account Executives and others on the public relations team to ensure quality of product and service, including timely strategic planning and execution.
Assists in development and implementation of strategic public relations and communications plans using all applicable resources (i.e. research, competitive information, market analysis) with input from the client and agency strategists, when appropriate.
Responsible for reviewing communications briefs on all public relations creative.
Provides strong leadership and strategic direction to the public relations team and to the greater account team and client, utilizing sound judgment, demonstrating market/industry expertise, organization and commitment.
Continually supports, inspires and motivates team members to think of innovative ways to solve the client’s public relations challenges, and perform consistently and to the best of their ability.
Works closely with other departments to assure strong collaborative strategy and execution of goals and objectives.
Assists and oversees all relevant client presentations.
Participates in conducting team meetings.
Participates in weekly status and/or debriefing meetings.
Prepares client case studies and provides newsworthy information to R&R internal promotional staff.
Prepares internal written/verbal reports of client’s current activities, revenue forecasts, and plans for future development of accounts as needed.
Informs Vice President and Senior Vice President of client challenges and concerns.
Monitors resources to ensure account is adequately and efficiently staffed to meet client needs and the necessary tools are provided to the staff; hires, interviews and makes staffing recommendations.
Defines public relations account group goals and objectives and manages budgets (expenses and training).
Provides leadership to the Public Relations Department.
Oversees and provides growth/training opportunities, on-going feedback, absence request approvals and regular performance reviews to Public Relations staff. Provides annual salary compensation recommendation to Vice President and Senior Vice President for approval.
Responsible for communicating and supporting agency decisions, policies, and changes; communicates and distributes important/relevant account information and client news to the entire team in a timely manner.
Provides leadership/motivation and conveys the vision and values of the agency to assigned staff.
Seeks business opportunities with new and existing clients and plays a supportive role in their development. Is familiar with overall agency goals and able to cross-sell the various disciplines of marketing.
Represents and promotes the agency at client functions.
Fosters professional development of Account Executives and other team members through training, mentoring, and recommending educational opportunities.
Continually seeks to improve public speaking and presentation skills.
Develops and maintains an intimate working knowledge of all agency departments.
Educates and trains new account services staff members about processes, procedures and standards in the department.
Other Responsibilities:

Performs tasks of assorted members of the Public Relations Account team when necessary; serves as back up.
Performs other work-related duties as assigned.
Models and reinforces principles of cross-team collaboration and continually implements this strategy into client’s overall communications plan and in management of team.
Understands and abides by the agency’s business practices and philosophies as well as understands R&R’s policies and procedures.

Maintains a positive working relationship with co-workers and clients.
Serves as a mentor to junior staff, demonstrating and encouraging professional growth and excellent work.
Serves as a strong positive representative of the Public Relations profession and works in complete collaboration with other agency departments.
Maintains accurate daily time sheets.
Maintains an appropriate appearance and demeanor with clients and in other professional environments.
Must be conscientious and demonstrate analytical thinking skills.
Must have effective interpersonal and personal organizational skills.
Must be self-motivated.
Must be an outstanding performer demonstrating selfless leadership, showing initiative, and fostering environments that yield quality and quantity of individual and team performance.
Must maintain a valid driver’s license.
Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in public relations, journalism, communications or related field. Minimum seven to ten years public relations agency, advertising agency or corporate background. Demonstrated supervision and guidance of junior staff essential. Demonstrated leadership ability with strong verbal, written, presentation and communication skills.  Computer literate and comfortable using social media platforms.
